Darin LeRoy Hammond
August 6, 1971 - November 1, 2017
Rexburg, Idaho

Darin was my instructor while I was a student at BYU-Idaho. I was struggling with some personal issues -- which included my wanting to resign from the Mormon Church -- and Darin was a confidante and a friend to me. He encouraged me to think for myself and to walk my own path.

After a graduated from college, I began teaching. I reached out to Darin and told him that I had a classroom of my own. He was happy for me and very supportive.

I could have reached out -- and SHOULD HAVE reached out -- to Darin. I am sad that I will never see him again. He was a good man and I enjoyed talking to him and learning from him.

We lost a good man.

I speak for the whole Keller family when I say how much we love Darin and how much we love your family. Darin was always a true friend to my father, my brothers, and myself. I was one of those eternal students who was in college for 13 years with more professors than I care to remember, but Darin was always among the best of the best. He was a loyal friend and a loving mentor. We are so sorry for your loss and take consolation in the knowledge that Darin is not gone forever and angels will be on your right hand and on your left to bear you up. You are loved.

Darin was the most kind-hearted man I've ever met. He spoke of his family often at work and expressed how proud of and grateful he was for them. By example, Darin made me a kinder person. My heart aches and misses his sweet spirit. May God take care of, comfort, and nurture the Hammond family. I know Darin is still close in spirit and will watch over his sweet family.
